Wishing Star is a Flicka which our friends Elizabeth and Stefan picked up in Seattle. Now they have her home, and the work is just getting started. (This is an excellent way to test a relationship.)

BayAreaSailingSchool > Stefan, the brilliant engineer contemplates how exactly does one mold a "wave blocker"?

BayAreaSailingSchool > We used green fiberglass hair to glue the new piece of plywood back into the coaming. We discovered that "hair" is very difficult to work with and would not recommend it!

BayAreaSailingSchool > The hair did do the job we had intended. And with more elbow grease we were able to sand the edges relatively flush with the plywood and existing fiberglas.

BayAreaSailingSchool > Ah such skill, such grace and such faith in our fiberglass repair! Thank goodness it worked, and I did not end up falling on my butt!

BayAreaSailingSchool > We decided since we had WS in a warm dry workshop, with tools all around us, we should build a new rudder. Although we felt this one could very well continue to work fine, we did not want the rotten wood to give out when we were making our way up the east coast and without resources.
