Our instructor Dorie, just trucked her Friendship 30 in from California and decided she (the boat, not Dorie) needed a make over, starting with the bottom. This is a work in progress so check in from time to time to see new photos.
Day 3 I begin painting the topsides (hull) When painting and refinishing a boat I believe tape is not something to skimp on either in how much you use or how long you spend applying it. also spend the extra money for the blue stuff... Trust me it is more than worth it to avaoid painfully sanding traditional masking tape off along with the new paint job.
Day 4 I just stopped by after teaching BKB to see how she looks.
Monday - Day 6 I begin to assess the damage done when Friendship lost 2 cleats off the deck. Sometime after I left her in San Diego and her arrival in TX (everyone swears it didn't happen while they had her). This one the bolts sheared off and while the cleat is AWOL little damage occured to the deck.
Shearing the bolts on that port side cleat was nothing compared to the damage of this starboard cleat which was pulled up through the decking.
Hopefully this damage can be fixed with a grinder, lots of epoxy and an oversized steel backing plate.
