Our instructor Dorie, just trucked her Friendship 30 in from California and decided she (the boat, not Dorie) needed a make over, starting with the bottom. This is a work in progress so check in from time to time to see new photos.
Friendship sits at the docks in Driscol's Boat Works San Diego.
The stick is off and wrapped in bubble wrap, all the hardware removed and cabin items stowed for her first over ground trip.
Little did I know she would patiently wait there10 day for the truck to arrive.
Five days on a truck and 1500 miles later she arrived at Breathwit Marine in San Leon TX
It looks like it was a rough trip. Freindship shifted on the trailer when the driver hit a bump outside of San Antonio.
Once the guys at the yard picked her up and set her on the blocks I thought I would need about 6-7 days to have her ready to splash.
Her hull needs top side paint and the bottom needs new anti-fouling paint. That first day in the yard I tackled sanding the bottom and found only minor paint blisters except on the rudder. There I found a big blister and when I picked at found it to be delamination and within an hour had all the glass torn off the rudder. Guess I should add a day or 2 to the estimated time in the yard.
